HR Star’s year-end HR checklist

Santa has his list and is checking it twice to make sure he gets the job done. But what about you? How are you making sure that all your end of year HR tasks are taken care of, so you can start the new year off on the right foot? Read on to discover HR Star’s year-end checklist to ensure you’re entering the new year compliant and with confidence.

  • Clean up accounting-related procedures and confirm key information: The end of the year is a great time to ensure any outstanding bills or open invoices are dealt with, and to review employee and supplier information for accuracy.

  • Prepare for new regulations: Make sure you’re aware of new laws and regulations that are due to come into effect in the year-ahead and put plans in place to ensure your business is compliant once January 1st hits. And, don’t forget to communicate any changes you might make to existing company policies to your team!

  • Review your budget for the new year: Review your HR budget for the year-ahead and begin to allocate resources based on your focuses for the new year – whether this be recruitment, employee wellbeing or something else.

  • Perform annual performance reviews: Remember to schedule time for annual performance reviews, so you can agree areas for improvement for each of your employees for the year-ahead. Plus, agree goals and objectives – and even gather feedback to help identify issues to address with your company’s processes and leadership strategies.

  • Agree your business goals, objectives and KPIs for the year-ahead, and how these will impact your team: Last but by no means least, it’s important to carve out time to set your goals, objectives and measures of success for the year-ahead, and consider what new or improved people structures you might need to put in place to help your business achieve these. If you need a little extra support with this, HR Star can host an interactive session with your business leaders to discuss these very things and gather the information needed to create a people strategy plan.
